Many people take very lightly the fact that Jesus is going to return. This great and wonderful promise is constantly at the forefront of my mind. Those who do not anxiously look forward to that day are those who are not ready for that day. When He returns judgment will take place. Your life will be “weighed in the balances” (Daniel 5:27). The Bible says that “God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man Whom He hath ordained” (Acts 17:31). We will be judged not only by those things that we did, but also by those things that we neglected to do. “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” (Revelation 22:12). Belshazzar neglected to heed the writing on the wall - he neglected to repent - and he paid the price. The rich young ruler refused to give up his love for money - and he paid the price. What about you? When that day comes and you are “weighed in the balances” will it show that Christ had first place in your life? Will it show that the way you lived was a proper pattern for others to follow? As a Christian the way that you live and the things that you do and say are of paramount importance. Many people will not read the Bible but they will read a Christian.
Are you prepared for that day? Are you prepared to be “weighed in the balances?” The Bible says that a wise person prepares for that day but the foolish ignore it and suffer the consequences. If you have not invited Jesus Christ into your heart and given Him first place in your life you can do that right now. It doesn’t matter who you are Jesus is waiting and ready to give you a brand new life. A life of hope and peace. A life filled with the assurance of your eternal home in Heaven. All you need to do is go to Him in prayer and say “Lord I know that I am a sinner. I come to you at the foot of your blood-stained Cross with all of my sins, repenting of my sins, and asking your forgiveness of my sins. I ask You to come into my heart and take complete control of my life. Guide me in the way of righteousness and give me the strength to follow You every day.” Jesus said that anyone who comes to Him in true repentance He "will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37) - He will not turn you away. Don’t put it off another moment. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6). Go to Him today and make sure that you are prepared for His glorious return!
