"WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE THAT GOD LOVES ME? HE MAY LOVE OTHER PEOPLE, BUT NOT ME."

That's the question I received from a young man named Michael. My answer follows:

I glean from your letter Michael that you do in fact believe in God because in it you state that "God loves others." Let me ask you this, Does one dare call God a liar? The reason for my question is because God has promised “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Were that not true, how much of scripture and how many of His other promises must be removed? The answer is "all of them." If we remove His promises then we also remove His majesty and His ability to remain true to His Word, and all that remains is the front and back cover of an empty book.

God does love you Michael. He loves you with an everlasting love. He is the One True, Living, Perfect God. He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He is the Creator and Sustainer of you and me. He is bigger, more amazing and more wonderful than we can ever imagine or comprehend. He loves us with the most perfect love possible. He never ever leaves or forsakes us. Isn’t this the God each of us wants to know Michael? Isn't this the God that we want to have constant fellowship with? Isn’t this the God that we want to trust and included in every area of our lives? Isn’t this the God we want to spend eternity with? Isn’t this the God you want, Michael? Never doubt God's love for you. Take that step of faith and go to the Cross in repentance, taking all of your sins with you. Christ will meet you there Michael. He will forgive you of all your past no matter how dark it may be. Invite Him into your heart as your Personal Lord and Saviour. Turn complete control of your life over to Him. Talk with Him every day through prayer and continue to deepen your walk with Him and learn more of Him by reading your Bible every day. Build your life on this God Michael and all of His truths. You will soon discover that nothing else in life will ever be as clear and as real as God's perfect love for you.
